Managing Your Nurse Appointment with HealthNet

When you are referred to HealthNet, you may receive nursing support to help you start or continue your treatment safely. This page explains how nurse appointments work, what to expect, and how to get ready for both home visits and virtual appointments.

How Your Appointment Is Arranged

Once you’ve been registered with HealthNet, our nursing team will contact you by SMS, email, or phone to arrange your first appointment.

Some patients will receive a short SMS survey.

This works a bit like triage in A&E - it helps us understand what support you need.

  • If your answers show everything is straightforward, you will automatically receive a proposed appointment date.
    - You can accept or decline this date.

  • If your answers suggest you need a bit more support, or if you decline the date, a nurse will contact you to arrange a suitable time.

Before Your Visit

Once your appointment is confirmed, you will receive a message the day before with your estimated time window.

How long will the appointment take?

Most nurse appointments take up to 1 hour 30 minutes.
If your visit needs more time for any reason, our team will let you know in advance.

Types of Nurse Appointments

Depending on your medicine and personal circumstances, your appointment may be in person or virtual.

Home Visits

A HealthNet nurse may visit you at home to:

  • Give you your injection or infusion

  • Teach you how to administer your medicine safely

  • Carry out follow-up checks

  • Support you with treatment changes

Your nurse will contact you on the day with an estimated arrival time.

Virtual Appointments

Some treatments can be supported by a video or telephone appointment.

All virtual appointments are carried out by real HealthNet nurses - never automated systems or AI.

Virtual appointments are ideal for:

  • Injection training

  • Checking your technique

  • Explaining your treatment

  • Reviewing your progress

Virtual Appointment Guide

What to Expect

During your virtual session, your nurse will:

  • Confirm your location (for safety)

  • Explain your medicine step-by-step

  • Demonstrate how to prepare and administer it

  • Watch and guide you while you practise

  • Stay with you for a short period afterwards to ensure you feel well

  • Update your doctor or hospital team with a record of the appointment

How to Get Ready for a Virtual Appointment
